Standard Schuko country: recessed Type F sockets supplying 230 V at 50 Hz, happily accepting both earthed Schuko plugs and two-pin europlugs. Most of continental Europe plugs in without thinking about it; UK, Irish and North American visitors need adapters, and 120 V-only appliances need checking before use.

The voltage window

A nominal 230 V supply may legitimately sit anywhere between 207 and 253 V (±10%). Dual-voltage gear (marked 100–240 V) shrugs at all of it.
