Austria is straightforward Schuko territory: recessed Type F sockets at 230 V and 50 Hz, accepting earthed Schuko plugs and two-pin europlugs alike. German and most continental European equipment plugs straight in; visitors from the UK, Ireland or North America need an adapter, plus dual-voltage devices if coming from 120 V.

The voltage window

A nominal 230 V supply may legitimately sit anywhere between 207 and 253 V (±10%). Dual-voltage gear (marked 100–240 V) shrugs at all of it.
