220 V · 50 Hz on Type M, Type D.

Follows South African practice: the large round-pin Type M is the standard socket, with Indian-style Type D also listed, at 220 V and 50 Hz. Type M adapters are rarely included in generic travel kits, so pick one up before departure or from a local shop.

The voltage window

A nominal 220 V supply may legitimately sit anywhere between 198 and 242 V (±10%). Dual-voltage gear (marked 100–240 V) shrugs at all of it.
