Ecuador is on the North American standard: 120 V 60 Hz through flat-blade Type A and earthed Type B sockets. Travellers from the US, Canada or Colombia plug straight in; Europeans need a pin adapter and should check for the 100–240 V marking, since 230 V-only appliances will not work on 120 V.

The voltage window

A nominal 120 V supply may legitimately sit anywhere between 108 and 132 V (±10%). Dual-voltage gear (marked 100–240 V) shrugs at all of it.
